This is a Ryoji Matsuoka M20 (concert series) Classical Acoustic guitar made in 1984 in great condition.  Gorgeous cosmetically, structurally sound and intonation is spot on.  A near excellent condition for this rare 38 year old guitar.

This M20 was handmade by Ryoji Matsuoka and his family in Nagoya. It was made for the Japanese domestic market and there are very few available or found on the global market

- Ryoji Matsuoka was known as one of the great Japanese guitar-makers and entrepreneurs of the twentieth century. He brilliantly modified techniques and designs by Ramirez, Hauser, Kohno, and others to produce wonderful guitars under his own name. His company produced its own lines of guitars: the Concert, Artist, and Artisan series.

Specs:

* Solid Spruce Top with quite original bracing (When looking at guitar standing upright, there are 2 horizontal main thick braces above the sound hole and below the sound hole. Below the latter one there is another one horizontal medium size brace, next is horizontal bridge supporting strip and finally diagonal thinner brace close to the very bottom. These horizontal braces are crossed by 6 vertical and parallel thinner braces extending all the way to the bottom)

* Indian Rosewood Doubleplate Back and Sides
* Mahogany neck
* Dark Indian Rosewood fretboard
* Fine wood mosaic inlay around sound hole
* Hand Polished Nickel Silver Frets
* Rosewood Bridge
* Slotted Headstock
* Bone nut and saddles
* Nut width: 52mm
* Scale:650 mm
* Gold hardware

The action is set to 3.50 mm under E6 and 3.00 mm under E1,
There is some extra room left on the saddle.

As far as I can determine, this RYOJI MATSUOKA M20 was made in 1984 (according to heel stamp inside - see pic). This guitar’s label has the model number “M20” and includes the full serial number (see pic).

Condition:

This guitar is in great concert ready condition, has only very minor scrapes and such, but nothing stands out without close inspection, see the pics.

The guitar is structurally great and will be an excellent performer for decades to come, whether in the studio or on a stage.
